On Tour 2008 - K&WVR Diesel Gala and WSR Mixed Traffic Event

The Society's recently back dated to as near to original condition Class 37, D6737 was invited to attend the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway's Diesel Gala held between Friday 6th June and Sunday 8th June 2008. After a number of weeks of hard work, the loco passed all of the required examinations and was passed fit to be hauled over the national network. On Tuesday 3rd June 2008 D6737 left the SDR metals behind Direct Rail Services 37 423 in the company of 20 110, D7612 and 31 108 for onward rail movement to Keighley via an overnight stop at Crewe. D6737 arrived at Keighley on the Wednesday afternoon and was soon pressed into action to haul the convey to Haworth.

The following day D6737 was involved in the naming specials for Direct Rail Services Class 37, 37 087 at Oxenhope before working at the Railway's Diesel Gala the following day.

D6737 proved to be a very popular and well received visiting loco at the K&WVR Diesel Gala and many thanks for the invitation, too all involved and to the warm welcome we all received from friends new and old.

DRS's 57 010 collected D6737, 20 110 and D7612 from Keighley on Monday 8th June and dragged the convoy over to Crewe for an overnight stop. DRS's 20 310 and 20 313 picked up from 57 010 the following morning and hauled the convey south from Crewe, turning at Bristol as it wasn't possible to turn 20 110 at Crewe.

The locos arrived at Bishops Lydeard early on the Tuesday afternoon ready for the WSR's Mixed Traffic Event held between Friday 13th June and Sunday 15th 2008.

D6737 was out in action on the long and challenging WSR on Friday 13th June 2008 and it was good to give the loco a good work out on the lengthy line. The loco performed well all weekend working a number of trips over the WSR metals.
